Pontian District Council was established in 01 November, 1976 under Act 124 (Temporary Act) which is later declared as Act 171, Local Government Act 1976. The Council administration encompasses an area as wide as 1080 hectares covering Bandar Pontian, Pekan Nanas, Benut, Permas and Ayer Baloi.
Pontian is smallest district in South West Johor. Pontian name is believed to originate from of word 'STOP' which means lounge which in time formerly it becomes lounge of ships and boat which uses Straits Of Malacca as communication way between Malacca and Singapore.
Located in West Coast Johore State with border on Daerah Kluang and Johor Bahru in East part, Daerah Batu Pahat in North-west and Selat Melaka dibaratnya. Arab a merchant, Tuan Syed Muhamad Alsagoff has believed to be development main cause in Pontian. Next....
