BACKGROUND OF UNIT OF TOURISM
Pontian District Council was established under the Local Government Act (Act 171) which serves to provide service and management. In the early days, the Tourism Unit was placed under the Department of Planning, Landscape and Tourism. This unit was restructured in 2004 and has been removed from the Planning Department in 2009 as a separate unit. The aim of the Tourism Unit is to develop tourism resources, particularly in the administrative area of ​​Pontian District Council.
Pontian tourism sector is a sector that has the potential to be developed based on the privileges of resources, especially tourist spots like the end of the Asian continent, a Ramsar site, Pulau Kukup, homestay and local products such as handicrafts and SMEs.
